Smart Space Arts Will Survive! Fundraiser, December 11th, 2015
Visual artists have an opportunity to show and sell their work at our juried winter fundraising event, Arts Will Survive!, at Cuisine en Locale in Somerville. Admission to the show/sale is free and open to the public, with food and drink available for purchase.
The event is one night only, December 11th. 50% of sale price goes to the artist. We can accept a limited number of works due to space constraints so if you would like to participate, please submit early! Small to moderately sized wall-hanging work preferred. We can accommodate some tabletop sculpture.
Work may also be included in the preview show at Vernon Street Open Studios, December 5th and 6th.
If you would like to submit artwork, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.

Today the City of Somerville announced the preferred developer for the Powder House School Site.
While we are disappointed that we were not chosen, we’re really proud of what we’ve accomplished, and we are encouraged by the fact that our proposal garnered so much public support in terms of emails and social media messages to the City and the Mayor. Thank you, for your time, tweets, and emails – they did not go unheard.
We are still committed to preserving artist workspace and promoting public connections with the arts.
Our proposal was very well received, and we have been encouraged to meet with the city planning staff to discuss potential locations in Somerville.
Our board will be meeting in the coming weeks to discuss and explore possible options.
We look forward to being in touch with you about future updates.
Thank you for continued support!

We are very excited to report that we were selected to participate in the interview round for the Powder House Community School RFP and were able to present our ideas and participate in a Q&A session with the Technical Advisory Committee today!
For those of you who are hearing about this for the first time – the City of Somerville released an Request for Proposal (RFP) for development bids on the Powder House Community School (PHCS) at the start of 2015.
We submitted our proposal in mid-March. Eight bids in total were received by the City. The review committee narrowed the pool to 5 bidders, and today all of the finalists had presentation and interview sessions with the review committee.
We are very excited by how our interview session went, and are excited to continue discussions with the City of Somerville.
Here’s a picture of our team getting settled in at the podium before our presentation:
One step closer to our goal of transforming the PHCS into an integrated center for artists and makers, a new nexus for community engagement with the arts, and an incubator for the creative economy!
As hundreds of local artists put their art on display throughout the city during Somerville Open Studios this weekend, one local non-profit is throwing an art auction to help give many of those artists a permanent home in the city.
